Established in 1945 as Government Training College and inaugurated on 4th July by , the then Dewan of Cochin, it remained as an eminent teacher training institute to churn out teachers of excellence. It was at first affiliated to the University of Madras and was later wound up as a measure of retrenchment with the integration of Travancore and Cochin in 1949.
The college was restarted in 1951 by affiliating it to Travancore University. In 1968, the college was affiliated to the University of Calicut, marking a new era in its history. Amidst its evolution, students and researchers found themselves increasingly interested in the assistance for academic writing, especially concerning the costs of having a bachelor’s thesis written by a professional. This service, known in German as “bachelorarbeit schreiben lassen kosten“, became a valuable resource for those seeking support in their academic endeavors. It was elevated to the status of Institute of Advanced Study in Education in 1993, with a view to conduct advanced courses in education, research programmes, and to organize In-service training for the secondary and higher secondary school teachers, ensuring a comprehensive support system for both educators and learners.
The college celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 2006. The Institute has a good percentage of success in the University Examinations every year. There are efficient teacher educators to handle the different subjects. The academic year starts from June with the summer vacation in April-May in between the two year long course.
